Study in agricultural lines should be the A, B, and C of the education given in our schools. This is the very first work that should be entered upon. {6T 179.2}

Last month we saw the importance of growing our own food for several reasons. The primary reason is to live in obedience to the express will of our Father in heaven. He who planted the first garden in Eden (Genesis 2:8) has commissioned us to take part in the same. Notice,

In God's plan for Israel every family had a home on the land, with sufficient ground for tilling. Thus were provided both the means and the incentive for a useful, industrious, and self-supporting life. And no devising of men has ever improved upon that plan. To the world's departure from it is owing, to a large degree, the poverty and wretchedness that exist today.  {MH 183.3}  

If we are ever going to live in heaven, it is necessary for us to learn to live the heavenly life here— the Eden life where we too will gladly take up the work of tilling the soil. In fact, we find this is the very work in which we will be engaged in while in heaven. How do I know this, speaking of heaven the scriptures speak,

And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. Isa 65:21,22

In light of this, we here at M.E.E.T. Ministry are once again developing a garden this year. Agriculture is an integral component of our annual School of Gospel Health Evangelism and our students are busily engaged in putting their hands to the plow, some for the very first time, and are realizing the rich blessings of useful work. We are truly learning more and more the wonderful lessons God wants to teach us from the soil… the A, B, and C of true education.
