“Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, and trust in divine power—these are the true remedies. Every person should have knowledge of nature's remedial agencies and how to apply them. It is essential both to understand the principles involved in the treatment of the sick and to have a practical training that will enable one to rightly to use this knowledge.” Ministry of Healing, 127.
The Creator has given us the tremendous gifts of body and mind with which to enjoy all that life has to offer. He desires that we appreciate this wonderful gift by doing our part to keep our bodies and minds in the best possible condition, that we might have a rich spiritual fellowship with Him. We should present our bodies as living (live) sacrifices unto God (Romans 12:1). We are under definite obligation to God to govern our bodies, rule our appetites, and control our passions.
As we begin to appreciate the great blessings of life and health that God gives to us, and as we study our bodies to understand that surely we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14), we will be inspired with reverence toward our Maker. Instead of abusing and marring God's handiwork, we will do all in our power to preserve it and to keep it in the best possible running order. We will then begin to see that God's laws of health are not an arbitrary set of 'negatives,' but guidelines that, if followed, will be an inconceivable blessing. Yes, God will truly bless us with the health and happiness when we meet His conditions.
